Halogen mains voltage lamps are avaiable in two designs: single ended and double ended lamps and typically designed for operating at 230V, 240V or 120V. The colour temperatures of the lamps vary according to applications: 3400K for the highest possible luminous efficiency, 3200K for professional film and television recording, 3000K or 2900K for the situations that require a longer life.

OSRAM invented the patented quartz pinch technology - a completely new process for manufacturing mains voltage and high voltage single ended halogen lamps. The thin and sensitive filament wire is now held directly in the bulb by quartz pinch points. This technology offers a better protection against shock and vibrations. Discarding the conventional filament holder reduces the number of different materials in the bulb, improving the quality of the lamp and providing up to 10% more brightness.
